Here's an update for the Lit thing we have to do if you're in GROUPS 5 AND 6! This is from the slides on inet (slide 11). No idea why it didn't appear in class ): Read the excerpt on pp. 8-9: According to the slides, we have to: Annotate this excerpt. Due next lit lesson, which is Thursday (methinks) :D TO ALL GROUPS: "Students are to take notes from slides 13 till the end on the last page of their worksheet." Here's the stuff we have to copy: Role: Narrator A grown-up Scout: provides continuityand comparison in the play because the audience sees maturity in Jean by comparing her to Scout. Function: Identifies and reinforces Scout as the main character Relates events in retrospect (and in some ways, is an omniscient narrator) Introduces background of events and characters Function: Establishes key messages Builds relationship with the audience: shares information with audience that other characters in the play have no access to, thereby building audience trust in her as a reliable narrator. Influences audience’s first impression of characters. Function: Shares children’s (especially Scout’s) thoughts and feelings: showing her growth in understanding of key issues like courage and prejudice. Writer’s voicepiece: commentary and reflections on events and people. Rmb to annotate TKMB - first half do act one of the book, second half = act two. Okay bye!
