im going to type some of the rules of netball carnival here.

1. PARTICIPANTS

1a. The main B and C Division School Team Netballers in the South Zone and National Netball Tournaments 2008 are not permitted to participate. They will be umpires and officials for the carnivals. (BTW, ME, ANDREA AND ELAINE CAN PARTICIPATE)

1b. 15 players are required, appoint a Game Captain from among the players.

1c. Each class is allowed a max. of 3 participants in the Shooting Competition. These 3 pupils MUST NOT be one of the 15 players NOR one of the cheerers. Every participant in the Shooting Competition will earn 1 bonus point for the class. Please appoint a Shooting Captain from among the participants for this competition.

1d. If your class is taking part in the Cheering Performance, there must be at least 10 pupils in the Cheering Team. All cheerers MUST NOT be players NOR participants in the Shooting Competition. Each class will earn 2 bonus points for participating according to the stated conditions. Each class is allowed ONLY ONE cheer lasting NOT MORE THAN ONE MINUTE. Please not that this is a CHEERING Performance, not a CHEERLEADING Performance. There MUST be verbal cheering and it must come ONLY from the class list of cheerers. Music is allowed but you must bring your own tape/ CD player and inform the officials well ahead of your turn for the Cheering Performance. Please appoint a Cheer Captain from among the cheerers.

1e. If your class is taking part in the games, your class MUST have a scorer who is NOT one of the players. Any class without a scorer on that day will be disqualified immediately. ONLY the SCORER may participate in the Shooting Competition AND be part of the Cheering Team.

1f. Every class must appoint a Class Captain, who must NOT be a Game / Shooting / Cheer Captain. The Class Captain is the overall coordinator, and liases and plans with all the captains and scorer.


2. WALKOVER

Teams with fewer than 7 players will concede a walk-over. The games will start EVEN if you are late. You will be considered to have given a walk-over for the games if you are late by more than 2 minutes, and your opponents are ready on court. If more than 25 girls from a class were discovered to have played without permission, that class will be disqualified from the carnival entirely.


3. GAME FORMAT

3a. We will play level round-robin, i.e., teams of each level will play against every other team of the same level. (we will play with 101 - 112)

3b. Each game will last 7 minutes with NO changing of goal ends. A siren or whistle will indicate the beginning and end of play. Game Captains are to toss for centre pass and choice of goal post BEFORE the game starts.

3c. Substitution of a player during a game IS ONLY ALLOWED when a player is injured in the midst of a game. The injured player will not be eligible to play in any further games. Substitures must not be participants in the Shooting Competition, Cheering Performance, nor be a scorer. Class Captain must inform Registration officials about change.


4. POINTS SYSTEM

The winner of a game gets 4 points and the loser gets 1 point. If a draw occurs, both teams get 2 points each. No points will be awarded for walk-overs. If there is a tie in points at the end of the tournament, the team who won the head-to-head match will be the winner. If that match was a draw, the team with the bigger total goal difference will be the winner.


5. ATTIRE

5a. Players MUST wear school T shirts or APPROVED class T shirts (optional) and PE shorts (NO FBTs). Your class may be disqualified from the entire event if this is not adhered to. You may wear coloured sports shoes but school rules for socks still apply.

5b. Jewellery (ALL types of earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc.) AND watches are NOT allowed in the games.

5c. Finger nails MUST be trimmed short. All Game Captains MUST personally check all players BEFORE the commencement of the first game. Nail clippers will be available for loan at Registration area.

5d. you are reminded that class T shirts are entirely OPTIONAL. Should you still wish to print one, please submit your proposals for approval on the respective forms, following the stipulated guidelines and observing the necessary deadlines. Form Teachers will vet the design before final approval from HoD PE & CCA. Class T shirts that are not approved MUST NOT BE WORN by any member of the class on the day, or the ENTIRE class may be DISQUALIFIED.


6. PENALTIES
Unsporting behaviour of any sort from players, participants AND supporters will not be tolerated. This includes questioning the umpire's decision on court, making negative comments about the umpire on or off court and jerring at other participants, supporters or players. ANY CLASS GUILTY OF DOING SO WILL IMMEDIATELY BE GIVEN NO POINTS FOR THAT GAME OR COMPETITION, REGARDLESS O THE RESULT.


7. FRINGE EVENTS

The Shooting, Cheering and Banner competitions are Fringe Events and hence NOT COMPULSORY. However, classes will earn bonus points should they participate according to the stated conditions. 2 points for Cheers and Banner. 3 points for 3 shooters. 1 additional point each for each of the top three classes.


8. DEADLINES

Please be reminded that all deadlines must be adhered to, or action, including complete disqualification, will be taken.


9. FINAL ARBITRATION

ON ALL MATTERS PERTAIING TO THE NETBALL CARNIVAL, ESPECIALLY WITH REGARD TO DISCIPLINE AND THE RULES, TEACHERS WILL HAVE THE FINAL SAY.

sorry for being naggy and nonsensical, but
when there are free blocks,
the players and shooters have to train
and the cheerers have to practice the cheering routine that should not be more than 1 min.
(saved in the class blog as a draft. mich and minee and mel can teach it to the class! and we need someone to edit the music etc.)

we need a write up for our banner too, and i suggest mel write it. hahaha.
