it says on the piece of paper that: this publication if multi-lingual and explores the roots of human relations and beliefs, and celebrates the wings of creativity. proceeds from the sale of this books will be used to support the straits times school pocket money fund. it includes poetry, prose and dramatic works by CAP students.

We still have a bunch of work left, so it would be appreciated if all of you would squeeze in spare time after school etc to help out (we have from tomorrow to Monday). Yeah. I don't know what to say. Just help out. Really. I'll be happy. You want me to be happy right? If not, Mrs Abbas would be happy. Leti would be happy. Yeeeeeeaaaaaaaah.

And yes, I'm sorry if I was mean today. But we have a deadline, and it's really not fair that some people in our class (Cheese, Tiff, Rong, Bella, Esther, Leti and the rest of some of you - thanks) are working hard to stick to it. materials we really need for acp

Hey guys, some ACP stuff!

I'm not putting this under drafts in case nobody sees it...
If you have any of the items listed below and you don't need to use it anytime soon, please try to bring them asap! The bolded stuff are the really important, urgent, diediemusthave stuff.

blue cellophane, about 6 x 1.5m - is what we bought enough?
black bin bags - we have this, we just need to totally cover the ceiling, walls and doors with them
aluminum foil - to wrap stars and the borders of boards, so we don't really need that much i guess?
lots of cardboard - we have this, we just need to cut out any remaining meteors/stars and paint them. after that we'll need to hang the stars from the ceiling (how?!) and paste the meteors on the floor leading to our class (staircase, walkways)
about 8m worth of fabric - any random, cheapo type of fabric from spotlight will do, we'll hang this from the ceiling. but if you guys think we don't have enough money for this we can make curtains with strips of newspaper or something i guess, but it'll take a lot of time and effort. this is for the photobooth.
props for photobooth - cut out letters and stuff like hearts, smileyfaces, etc. from cardboard and paint them. on the day itself, can everyone also try to bring something you think can be used as a prop? like a stuffed toy, etc (:
post-its - we need a lot a lot of this for decorating the whiteboards. needed: LOTS of yellow, quite a lot of pink, ~~some blue~~ (i have blue, should be enough)
paint - lots of it (and paintbrushes too i guess)
double-sided tape and blue tack
lava lamp - only if the class really wants this, one person will have to make it though

I'm here to say a WONDERFUL HUGE WELL DONE for net carn today! :D
I think everyone seriously did very well!
The shooters, not sure how they did but they must have worked very hard :3
The cheerers, who only had a litttttttle while to practice the cheer and all, and they did it! It was pretty interesting I bet:D
and the players, who played really well and hard :D
(if you get sunburn, use some kinda cream. its really gross when your skin starts flaking and peeling! xD)

We lost ONLY 6 games, (no sacarsm intended, cos that's really very good!)
drew 2 and WON 4! :DDDDD
and, our banner got SECOND woohoo!
THANK YOU a million LEEN! :D
And although we didn't win the overall thing, or one of the top 3 for that matter,
we already did very well! :D
and we should be proud of ourselves yeah, no matter what.

NETBALL CARNIVAL 2009 (SEC2) is NEXT MONDAY
and we are very very very very UNPREPARED,
for SHOOTING, CHEERING and the GAME!

hello folks!!!

i was the ONLY 213 HOUSECOMMER (cough cough) who went for Friday's house prac, so here's some details of IHG Karaoke (which is actually an inter-class competition, but they said IHG so ah whatever):

a) IHG KARAOKE will be a CLASS COMPETITION on...2 or 3 november, whichever (lazy to check the calendar)
b) There's a scoring system LOL
c) There are over 2000 songs in the book, of which we probably know like 20, the others have to ask our parents and grandparents already (quoth Mr Yeoh)
d) each class will pick a song, then rehearse and whatever make props etc
e) perform!!!! there's a whole day set aside for IHG Karaoke if I'm not wrong.

Quite funny right. Anyway 212 is gonna kick our arses but let's have fun okay? Okay! Wheeeee~

A. CLASS DECORATIONS.

It is a general idea to have a futuristic theme for our class deco. Yet a bar theme. Yet a computer-y theme.

By the way, don't google "bar", even if you have google safesearch on. I kid you not.

Anyway, this kind of has to be discussed as a class because the only things I can think of it hanging aluminium foil stars and moons around, as well as cardboard keyboard keys. And covering the ohsougly walls with black garbage bags. And covering the lights with yellow cellophane. And TABLECLOTHES argh.

That's already a lot of money from the $100 budget. So... We kind of have to discuss this in class for better ideas yes?

B. DOOR GIFTS.

Leti suggested fabric stars. We can all sew (okay, maybe not all of us but yeah) and cut (all of us can cut) and buy things. So that's valid yes.

Another idea would be to paint cardboard computer keys and stuff. Cos, you know, people like collecting letters for some reason. Or wine glasses/bottles. Something like that. Yeah.

Another idea is folding paper stars and spraying them with glitter or something. that's easy. Who thought of that? Was it Sand? O___o

So now we have 3 different door gifts. Yaydone.

C. FOOD/PRESENTATION

Drinks:
Ice + Water + Lemon, like those fancy places
Lemon + Sugar + Tea, lemon tea!
Rootbeer?*

Therefore, we need to massbuy lemon and tea, and massproduce ice. And get cups.

I guess we can get plastic cups and make them all fancy so we can reuse them for a good reason.

For ice, everyone can bring a few icetrays (label them if you want them back) and on the day before we can make ~~love~~ ice in the kitchen! :D

Someone who makes a lot of tea can estimate how much tea one teabag makes? According to the Cooking module, 1 lemon can be made into about 5 cups of tea. The leftover lemon bits can be sliced and dunked into the water (cos' it's really just for the smell, right?)

*Because it's a bar. But we don't exactly have a lot of money to spend on random stuff like this so HMM :C Accounts team can estimate later.

As for food, we're sticking to the cookies + icing. Not sure about the muffins now. Do you guys still want them? :/

E. PERFORMANCES

I can't remember who said that the performances must tie in with our theme somehow, and the theme of "LIVE THE LEGACY". So something futuristic, popculture-ish (internet, computer = popculture somehow) or LIVETHELEGACY.

Performances should take up LITTLE SPACE, so something like singing/instruments are fine, acting and dancing should consider space constrains.

So anyway, everyone should TRY to perform something. Something retarded-but-not-awful. That kind of stuff.

Can someone propose any performances? We don't need a lot I think :/ But this should be something discussed in class again so yeah. Think of something to bring up.

Also, regarding the photobooth, I'm kind of lost on that. Will work that out later :/

F. DUTY ROSTERING

Technically, the SALES team would be in charge of selling, but seeing as how we're not selling anything, they can station in class to hand out food etc.

The PRODUCTION team would be in the kitchens. Baking their asses off. Or squeezing lemons and making tea.

BRANDING and MARKETING have nothing to do on the day itself, so they'll have to help run around school and promote, or help the sales team.

And I think it's a bit constraining to make time slots, so for now we won't have anything (unless you guys feel that we need one or something, or it's too confusing not to have one).

Heyo!

Besides looking for my missing math ws,
I decided to say something else!
JY for math paper tmr, it's really the last paper before EYAs are over! :)
except for me and poor Jodie ); who have 2 papers left aft tmr xD

it also signals the ending of 2009!
The ending of us all being in the same class for the past 1 year and many months!
I expected our class to eh kinda 'disband' at the end of last year,
but isn't it cool they let us stay together for another year? :D

it's really all luck that we've all been in the same class for close to two years,
and whether my sec 3 and 4 class will be as cool as us or cooler,
we've still been a pretty awesome and crazy class

hey guys. i, the bringer of post-exam activities news, am back! hah. can't wait. as sam says, " only 15 more days! woohoo!" :D persevere guys and it will be over in a week...or two....

anyway, our OBS health screening will be on the same day as our dance exam. so:

Pupils are to report in their PE attire and to have with them the following on medical screening day:
· Health Booklet (which the school will submit earlier for you to the med officer by 29th September)
· Medication to show the doctor (if any, at the time of the medical screening)
· Only for pupils with medical conditions: Bring along the medical memo/letter (if any) from your doctor or specialist indicating whether your condition allows you to attend OBS (pls have your doctor state clearly for the period up to 31 January 2010). If you are currently on any medical treatment or course by a specialist, or on long term medication of 3 months or more, please bring along your doctor’s memo and medication on the day of screening. Please ensure the specialist/doctor has endorsed the memo/letter. If not, the memo will not be valid and you cannot be certified fit. For pupils who get to see the specialists only in Nov-Dec’09, submit the endorsed memo/letter to ST Aeromedical Centre immediately once it’s done, and inform Mrs A Wee as well.

Only valid reason will be considered for any change/swop in timing. Please inform Mrs AWee (ext 825, alina@rgs.edu.sg ) or Mr Desmond Ng (desmondng@rgs.edu.sg ) one week in advance if you have a valid reason .

anyway, the exam is on a marking day (15th october) from 12.30 to 1.30pm.

Important reminders for the dance exam,

Class committee to prepare template (ONLY) for number tags with register no. printed on it. Make sure it is clearly visible from afar.
Bring at least 4 safety pins per person to pin your tags.
Everyone should be readily lined-up according to the register no. at the rock climbing area by the reporting time indicated on the exam schedule.
Gentlemen to stand on the Right hand side; Ladies on the Left hand side.
Once ready, class-reps please report to the teacher-in-charge on that day.
Assessment begins once inside the room till you leave the room.

I thought of an idea for ACP and drew a mini instruction thing for it. As a doorgift. Because, you know, that would be so cool.

anyway, you might be thinking, "That's a lot of work D:" but look at it this way:

-Cantata 2008, GB did something similar: there was a very small number of people free/ willing to do it, but we managed to complete...400-ish, or more, in a decent amount of time.

-if it's that bad we can just blanket stitch for decoration, haha, so we can cut less stars. And figure out a way to sew the ribbon to the SIDE or something.

-it's almost september, we have two months and THIRTY ONE people.

-it's our last class project together, i think if we all contribute to do it we could pull our class together a lot better (: and make our last class thing memorable, not a flop.

-it's low-cost enough

-we won't have to make THAT many because as leen says, we'll only be open for what 2 hours? we aren't THAT popular. heh.

Okay, yeah, and we can set up an assembly-line kind of thing so only a certain amount of people will have to do something. The different roles will probably be something like this:

-star-cutting people

-ribbons-cutting people

-blanket-stitching (and invariably) ribbons sewing people

-...people who draw the 213 / :3 face (this can be more Lastly kind of thing)

we can substitute marker with fabric paint which is pretty and sparkly but also costs $$ haha

ALSO,

Leen and I were considering that in view of the whole host concept, we can email people their pretty pictures and whatnot instead. So it's kind of like an e-mail photoprint booth haha because if we gave it to them for free, uh, ouch. And printing on paper is lame.

HEY EVERYONE. GUESS WHAT. BAD NEWS.

ACP (12-14Nov) IS BEING COMPLETELY MESSED UP.

Okay, tentatively we only have to work on the 2nd day of ACP (13th). And it's from 9-10.30am (tentative). And cleaning up from 12-1.30pm (tentative). Setting up will be the afternoon on the day before for 2hours. We will hold our event in our Homeroom.

Here's the thing:
ACP WILL NOT BE A FUNDRAISER FOR SEC2S.

What? So what will we be doing?
HOSTING
(demonstrate excellent hostessing skills that provides a memorable experience, integrates 3 modules, comprehensive and well-organized documenting, engages and holds interest)

Okay. Basically, we schedule entertainment shows every 15min. And provide free food and drinks.

We must show:
Management
Marketing (a theme, posters, jingle)
Production (entertainment and food)
Accounts (budgeting)
Hostessing (thematic layout and decorations, providing information on exhibits/performances, food)

THE SCHOOL WILL ONLY PROVIDE FLOUR AND D&T STUFF.
And our budget is now $100. Yay. They didn't say if it was provided though.

What we were originally doing was:
Photobooth
Crafts
Food and Drinks

ALMOST OUR ENTIRE BUDGET is now supposed to be for food and drinks. No crafts I guess, since we can't sell them.

Unless we offer it as a free service. Like you can take a photo and we email it to you. That kind of thing. Yeah. That sounds better right?

Decide on attire/grooming and service types (e.g. waitresses)
Decide on entertainment (e.g. songs, dances, skits)

I foresee next CLE lesson being taken up.

PS: Really sorry guys D: Most of the other classes also planned and got their plans messed up. So yeah, we don't really have a choice, do we?

CLASS SHIRT - I talked to the t-shirt people today. They are, remarkably enough, more productive than Wahmee. Anyway, it's possible we'll get our shirt on Wednesday, and if not, then Friday. As in the last day of school. Yup. This means they'll take either 6 or 8 days, as compared to Wahmee's 9 days at a rush. Psh.

I hope you all like baggy shirts. They're going to be baggy.

CLASS JACKET - as you might know Min Ee and I had an adventure to Paya Lebar on Tuesday. We had to make a compromise with the jacket colour - I think quite a few of us really want blue? and you know colours like white/black/brown are really done to death so we did manage to get light blue, only it wasn't quite as light as we would've liked.

It's this vaguely odd shade, but anyway uhhh at most if it's really weird you can keep washing it until the colour fades. No, I'm kidding. What I meant was that uh so I changed the colours of the design to cooler grays so it wouldn't contrast too badly. I'm not sure how it might turn out though so urrrrrrrr don't shoot me k gaiz

It's very thin, by the way. Like t-shirt thickness. Less, perhaps. We're entering the rainy season which means a thin jacket is actually pretty stupid but NEVERMIND, because it doesn't rain ALL THE TIME and you can wear it ALL THE TIME if it's relatively thin :D

OKAY I think that's all haha can't remember anyway!

Don't ask me why, I don't know either but basically yeah soooo it may not be light blue. Just to remind you in case you don't know, our jacket is light blue, will not be zip (I shouted this about three times in class today, but really, in case you didn't listen, yeah. Because the company I originally was banking on apparently cannot print it for some miscellaneous reasons, unless you want to wait three weeks for it to come and it may cost a lot and anyway I told wahmee we were printing with them), has a person in a penguin suit on the front in two shades of grey (see my previous post, I chucked the images there), will preferably be thin, probably be personalized, should arrive in a week (oh I love you wahmee) and uh very importantly

will cost 26 dollars

please bring this money ASAP :D uh I need to give them a 30% deposit then the other 70% after they print and I collect haha so yeah PASS TO OUR TREASURERS ASAP K?

First off FIRST OFF, don't shoot me. I know you might be thinking "What's wrong with you?! A JACKET? YOU CAN'T EVEN GET A CLASS SHIRT PRINTED!!!"

I tell you, that isn't my fault. Chenlao is lag in giving the forms and PE Dept hates me / us (okay RGS admin hates us REMEMBER THE YEAR BOOK THING and how 11308/21309 is always chucked into random ulu timings or at a really far end of the beach or something)

Anyway. Um. Since a shirt is so troublesome and anyway you can mostly only wear it on Saturdays and public holidays, and having the same sec1 and sec2 class is a very epic Something that should be *COMMEMORATED* because guess what next year we won't be in the same class anymore SO ODD(hahahaha 13 is an odd number) RIGHT anyway yeah where was I - -

....right. So. I was thinking of a class jacket! Hoodie, probably, because everyone sells hoodies and nothing else. And jackets don't have to be approved which is a doublebonus. Less trouble!

More or less it should be pretty simple but very pretty, saying something along the lines of "THIRTEEN. 08'09"! Thirteen is a very special number, because it's apparently unlucky but look at us we're so epic and we won netcarn last year thank you Dawne&Co. Oh, and it's the largest number that's shared by all four levels (shuuuure, there's 14 and 15 but that's only upper sec! SO MEAN RITE.) so that's cool.

I've asked a few people (from our class la duh) and more or less I've gotten agreements that YES IT WILL BE EPIC - I won't make it compulsory to purchase though, because hoodies are expensive and some people don't wear jackets so that would be really stupid. Still, do you think it's a good idea?

Should we specify that we're LOWER SEC 13 08-09? In a better way, of course.
